Patients
4-6 - oil I found out I was pregnant when I was in college I was 22 and unmarried. I wanted this child and I wrote to her in a journal that I illuminated. Though I was three and half months into my pregnancy, I had not publicly revealed my situation. Thus when I had my miscarriage, there were few to tell. My friends felt uncomfortable with the subject. If not for my sisters and a woman named Claudia I would have been hopelessly alone through the entire ordeal. I learned quickly most people are unwilling to speak about miscarriage. I am a communicator and need dialogue in order to make sense of what I experience. So I told the pen that helped me write these words and paints that helped me paint these images. This is how the" Patient" series came about. I have shown these works in juried exhibitions nationally and some reside in private collections. But, I have never, up until this point, revealed the motives and circumstances surrounding their existence.
